A German sub lurks off the coast of Eastern United States.

This is first game session round of Axis and Allies 1942 Second Edition using updated IPC values as stated in rules update listed in its errata.   The war kicked off on May 25, 2013.

Round 1 USSR

The Soviet Union concedes it can’t equally protect all three industrial complex cities.  It must try to hold off the German invasion until allies can support their homeland defense.  Meanwhile, they decide they will take an offensive posture against the Japanese Empire.

Recovering from Russia’s assault, Germany must counterpunch into eastern Europe.   Their naval strategy may ignore the United Kingdom and focus keeping the United States out of the European theater as long as possible.

Round 1 United Kingdom

Germany’s naval successes in the seas leaves the United Kingdom shorthanded in the Atlantic.  With their empire stretched thin it will be difficult to work around Germany’s counter punch and Japan’s inevitable offensives.

Japan will decide to sink the United States fleet and keep them at arms length from the war as long as possible.

Weakened in the Atlantic, the US can’t wait to make a splash through the Pacific.   The world must wait for their economic might start showing a positive difference in the war.

Analysis

Germany has the advantage after weathering Russia’s opening moves.   The German economy may be too much for the motherland.   The allies are in a defensive posture as they are contributing air wings to Moscow defenses.   The United States are out of the Atlantic theater until they clear the seas from German subs.
