Scooby Doo: The Secret of Shark Island

Scooby Doo meets Sonny and Cher,
during their second honeymoon on a mysterious island.  The weather is bad, they’re marooned on an island, and a terrible Indian legend comes alive.  Do you want to sit back and listen to Sonny and Cher sing and perform live skits?  It’s not happening, and it’s “The Secret of Shark Island” from The New Scooby Doo Movies.

The guest stars

Sonny is a reassuring husband. While Cher is overly concerned being an old woman.

The mystery brings the gang to the Hideaway Hotel.

The villain, the mystery, and the technology

From a supposed Indian legend, the Pescado Diabolico, aka “Fish of the Devil”, is an evil god of sharks. When the sea winds moan, sea monsters will drive civilization into the ocean.

Spanish doubloons and tax evasion drive the mystery.

Awesome tech included scuba gear and a removable shark head.

Milo Meekly and his sea scavengers, arrested.

Unanswered questions of curiosity

Agent Hildago’s jurisdiction was never explained. But he makes a sympathetic case for the villains as the Federal Government would have taken over half of the profits.

Tell me more about the 507 Winery.

Remember this trope. Monster spies through window.

Final thoughts

Not a terribly good episode but a pretty terrible episode.  Most everything about it is lame including the monster, backstory, and locale.  The story will be retold and many of its elements return including; a deserted hotel, monsters spying through windows, and references to Laurel and Hardy will resurface later in “The Ghost of Bigfoot”.  One of the most curious things was Cher’s compulsion to talk about herself being old.
