Scooby Doo: Mummy Scares Best

“Mummy Scares Best”,
reunites Mystery Inc. with Melbourn O’Reilly (3-D Struction) at the pyramids of Egypt.  However, climate change and superstition distracts the team from archeological discovery to mystery solving.  A 3,000 year-old curse goes unheeded until foreign tourists are turned into zombies.  From What’s New, Scooby Doo? comes, “Mummy Scares Best”.

The villain, mystery, and the technology

3,000 years ago, the Pharaoh Scamses, ruled until slaves had enough of his brutality and overthrew him in a violent uprising.  He comes to life modern-day to regroup a minion of zombies.

Prince Qasl Al-Famir, the real mastermind, defeated.

Trivia and curiosities

The gang revisits Egypt for an archeological dig at the Pyramid of the Moon.

Shaggy’s vegetarian diet includes cake, olives, and picking up chips off a dirty floor. He talks about sandwiches a lot.

Melbourne O’Reilly, rejoins the gang on another ancient-culture chasing adventure.

Final thoughts

It’s no secret that I’m no fan of the shortened run times.  “Mummy Scares Best” seems unfinished with its abbreviated story telling and mandatory chase song.  There is something here about man-made climate change, Eco-terrorism, and using water to force migration.  However, the show was ultimately made to squeeze in 8 or more 30-second ads.  We’ve long forgotten the commercials and this is what we have left to remember.
