The Shining inducted in the Hall of Favorites

Few book-to-film adaptations are as hotly debated and controversial as Stanley Kubrick s The Shining.  Mix a famous actor, director, and novelist and we get either a cinematic masterpiece or the most hacked interpretation of a well known horror story in mainstream history.   Throw in a made-for-TV mini-series and we have something to blog about.

If you choose to follow articles about The Shining and it makes you angry, upset, or disappointed – remember it is what makes the film and story so fascinating to blog about.  Kubrick’s work is not only a great study in the art of filmmaking, it is also a great study in the art of interpretation, contrast, and comparison.  Aside from conspiracies about fake moon landings, The Shining makes use of visuals and subliminal messaging.   Let’s begin discussing the film and add it to our Hall of Favorites.
