Final words and observations

“Ape” is very unique, as it doesn’t follow the formula of most every other episode.  With a motive of nothing more than spite it is nearly a parody of poorly made B-movies.   There is no conspiracy, no secrets to hide.  Carl is a unique villain as he does not have an alter-ego.  His release from his own trunk is a subliminal message you could write a psychology thesis about.   Read the Scooby list of 5 things you may have missed watching “Never Ape an Ape Man”.

Regarding the Scooby-Doo mask with dog collar and tag, the Rubies Costume Company now makes one like that! I have one. Doesn’t explain how the Ape Man got one back in ’69 though (he probably had a make-up artist on the movie set create it using a newspaper photo as a reference.)
