Scooby Doo: Hassle in the Castle

Scooby Doo, Where are You! episode “Hassle in the Castle”,
is a story about a castle on an haunted isle.   After fog maroons the gang on a creepy island, they explore Vasquez Castle after threatening note tells them to do otherwise.   Traps, floating ham sandwiches, and a creepy ghost-like figure lure Mystery Incorporated into the catacombs looking to uncover the castle’s secrets.

The villain, the mystery, and the technology

The Phantom, sometimes translucent and able to walk through walls. It protects the hidden treasure on Vasquez Isle.

The mystery were ambiguous clues of treasure.

Convincing levitation done by hidden wires capable of moving heavy objects with great speed and distance.

Bluestone the Great, unmasked as a despised ex-magician and wanted in six states.

Unanswered questions of curiosity

It’s foggy, the Phantom is in a tower mastering his telescope up into the skies. What in the world is he looking at?

The Phantom puts up a portrait of himself?

A cameo by The Black Knight?

What happened to the key Fred? What happened to the key!

Final words and observations

Not a note worthy episode other than it was the first featuring a castle.  The gang hasn’t yet reached peak form as they fumble around, get caught up in tracks solving a mystery where there were none.  It loyally debunks the supernatural with trick mirrors and very impressive illusions.  In spite of its flaws, its worthy to pick out 5 things you may have missed watching “Hassle in the Castle”.
